摘要

NiO nanoparticles on pristine carbon nanotubes, with high crystallinity and uniform dispersion, are synthesized using atomic layer deposition (ALD) by Y. Qin, X. Guo, M. Knez, and co-workers. The sizes of the NiO nanoparticles can be precisely controlled by varying the number of ALD cycles. The as-prepared NiO/CNT hybrid nanostructures, describedon page 3390, exhibit a greatly enhanced electrochemical catalytic ability and stability for methanol electro-oxidation. This method provides a general route to prepare functional and complex hierarchical nanostructures with precise control over the size of the supported nanoparticles.
