摘要

The Cover picture shows a concept of using a carbon aerogel as catalyst in air cathodes for microbial fuel cells. This nitrogen-doped ionothermal carbon aerogel (NDC) has a high surface area, large pore volume, and hierarchical porosity. The NDC shows excellent electrocatalytic performance for oxygen reduction at neutral pH. Microbial fuel cells using NDC air cathodes achieve a high maximum power density, higher than most of the state-of-the-art catalysts used as air cathodes, and allow simultaneous wastewater treatment.
